sometimes we did this little dance

this is a statement
i'm likely to make
in my reflective old age
when dancing lightly
is a thing of nostalgia
when my old body
will remember our young bodies
moving smoothly across the floor

sometimes we did this little dance
it's in the recent past
we know we'll always be dancing partners
though as of yet out fingers empty
dance partners
doing our little dance
